YARMOUTH, N.S. – A high school hockey game hosted by the Yarmouth Vikings on Friday, Feb. 16, saw the Par-en-Bas Sharks record the victory, but the biggest win happened off the ice.

The Vikings had dubbed the evening a “Support Jaden Muise” night.

Muise, a 2017 graduate of Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School, is in Halifax recovering from a serious car accident that occurred on Highway 101 on Dec. 18. His family has relocated to Halifax to be with him during his recovery.

Muise is a former YCMHS Vikings player. Driven by the motto, ‘Once a Viking, Always a Viking,’ the Vikings boys hockey team opted to have the Feb. 16 game serve as a benefit for Muise and his family.

All of the proceeds from the admission gate and the Vikings’ share of 50/50 sales, along with donations collected at the door, are being donated to Jaden and his family. The evening’s winner of the 50/50 draw also donated all of her $536 prize back to the cause.

In total, through their efforts, the Vikings raised $3,900 at the Feb. 16 game.

The Par-en-Bas Sharks team, meanwhile, also showed their support by giving a $1,100 donation for Muise to add the night’s total. The PEB Sharks had raised the money through a Live Well Challenge.

This brought the evening’s total donation going to Muise and his family to $5,000.
