As part of Hockey Canada’s 100th anniversary celebrations, they are visiting communities across the country with a trailer full of hockey memorabilia and Hockey Canada coaches.

Jonathan Ettinger, co-president of the Clare Digby Minor Hockey Association received an email on March 5 letting him know that Hockey Canada’s 53-foot trailer would be pulling into the Digby rink parking lot on March 19.

“We’re very excited. The kids are very excited,” said Ettinger. “We have a tournament in Bridgewater that weekend, we have a hotel room there, and my son is saying we have to leave Bridgewater, come back to Digby for this, and then drive back to Bridgewater to finish the tournament.”

The trailer pulls out to 70 feet in length when set up and holds a timeline wall showcasing the history of hockey in Canada, a video wall showing clips of defining moments in Hockey Canada history, a speaker’s corner video booth, a replica locker modeled after Canada’s locker room in Sochi, a bubble hockey table and more.

Hockey Canada will also set up an inflatable one-on-one ball hockey rink, and mini stick decorating station and several fan photo stations with Team Canada gear for fans to wear and pictures of Team Canada players.

The caravan also supports a large outdoor big screen TV showing hockey games through the years.

Hockey Canada coaches will also be holding four on-ice training sessions with minor hockey players during their stay.

Hockey Canada also told Ettinger they’ll be making a special presentation to local hockey hero about 7 p.m.

The trailer is scheduled to be set up and open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday March 19.

The Century Tour is scheduled to be in Windsor on March 17, and is headed for Yarmouth on March 21.
