Eleven teams competed in the Division 2 Provincial Finals. The Greenwich Bombers went undefeated in the tournament.
Game one against Yarmouth County Oceanic gave the Bombers a 10-0 win. In the second game they beat East Hants 5-4 in over time.
Game three was an 8-1 win against the Shelburne Flames 8-1. In game four the Greenwich players beat the Western Valley Kingston Bombers 3-0 and then the championship game involved a 4-0 win over Kingston a second time.
This is a first in two ways, according to manager Maura Ryan. It was the first and only time the high school league was ever played in the minor hockey system, she said, and it was the first (and probably the only) ever Midget X provincials.
Ryan checked with a former Horton teacher, Peter Selig, and he said Horton has never won the hockey provincials before.
The Horton team graduates five players this year: captain Cody Burghardt, Drew Ward, Tristan Cavanagh, Joel Jurt, and Jordan Hartt.
Coaches for the team this year were: Jeff Moore, head coach, with assistants Dennis Vial and Greg Foran. Managers were Ryan and Nancy Ward.
