WINDSOR, N.S. — The Avon View Avalanche would love to have had the third period to play over in their home game Dec. 2 against the Parkview Panthers.

The Avalanche and Panthers were tied 1-1 after the first period as Keegan Turnbull scored for the Avalanche 48 seconds after Parkview went up 1-0. Blake Rogers then put the Avalanche up 2-1 with Turnbull assisting and that was the score after 40 minutes.

What happened in the third period is anyone’s guess as the Avalanche lost their rhythm and allowed the Panthers to score three times to suffer a 4-2 loss. It marked the second loss of the season to the Panthers as they had recorded an earlier 3-1 loss in a game in Bridgewater.

The win for Parkview puts them at 8-0-0 on the season, followed by the second place Horton Griffins in the Eastern Division who sit at 7-0-0.

The Avalanche occupy third place at 5-4-0 and Northeast Kings is fourth with a record of 4-3-0.

The next three games for the Avalanche are critical in seeking a playoff berth as all games will be against Eastern Division opponents.

On Dec. 8, they are scheduled to play in Canning against the Northeast Kings Education Centre and then at home on Dec. 9 for a game against the Horton Griffins at 7 p.m.

They will conclude their pre-Christmas schedule at home on Dec. 23 when the Parkview Panthers will be back in town for a 7 p.m. game.
