An Ontario native has committed to spend the next season between the crease for the Valley Junior A Wildcats.
Goaltender Mark Loveday, 17, who hails from Fort Frances, Ontario, played last two seasons with Shattucks-St. Mary’s Prep School in Faribault, Minnesota as part of the Under 18 AAA team. His team won the league championship both years he played and finished with a 1.90 GAA and .912 save percentage. In 29 games, he had 18 wins, two of which were shutouts.
“To add a person and player of Mark’s calibre is great for our program,” said head coach Nick Greenough. “We expect him to come here and help this team win. He also gives us more depth at our goaltending position, which we identified as one of our needs after last season. With Blade and recently acquired Billy Clarke, and now adding Mark, we have addressed that need.”
Current goaltender Blade Mann-Dixon was drafted in the QMJHL recently by Saint John, NB.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to play for the Wildcats, and I look forward to the upcoming season,” said Loveday.
