Coaches Roddy Conrad and Tom Jacklyn said the team played with heart during the weekend tournament in Bedford, coming out on top in several tight games to take the championship.

The weekend began with a 7-4 win over the Strait and Area. Game MVP Trevor Fehr was the winning pitcher. Tyson Hartley and Oliver Harding both hit a pair of singles in the effort.

Shelburne suffered its only loss of the tournament against Yarmouth in game two, taking it on the chin 19-3. The Shelburne MVP in that game was Tyson Hartley.

The Bashers would claim their revenge in game three though, surviving a wild seventh inning to best Yarmouth by a 12-11 score. Bailey Bent was the MVP for Shelburne.

The semi-final saw the Bashers take on the number one ranked Dartmouth Arrows. The Shelburne team rose to the challenge, winning 8-1. Shelburne MVP Trevor Fehr was the winning pitcher. Connor Goodick and Kobe Jacklyn added two singles each in the winning effort.

The championship game was a nail-biter that went into extra innings before the Bashers scored three runs to defeat the host Tri County Rangers.

Winning pitcher and game MVP Kobe Jacklyn helped his own cause with two singles. Trevor Fehr had two singles as well.

Now the focus will be on practising for the Atlantics and fundraising.

The team will be hosting a barbecue on the Shelburne waterfront during the Dustin Conrad Memorial Boat Races on Sept. 7. It will also be holding a bottle drive Sept. 12.
