The Knights won the opener 3-1 thanks to a solid pitching effort from Dave Swindall, who struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the Windsor win.
The Knights scored two of their runs in the top half of the first on three singles, the only three hits they would get the entire game off of the Shamrocks’ losing pitcher David Pilat, before adding their final run in the sixth inning.
The Shamrocks’ lone run came in the fourth inning on an RBI single off the bat of Adrian Lloy.
The Shamrocks’ catcher Jed Martin was the second batter up for the Shamrocks in the sixth inning of the opener when he singled to right field before trying to leg a double out of it and getting thrown out.
In the second game, Jason Hanes pitched a great game for the Knights, as he allowed no runs despite threats in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Windsor won the second game 3-0.
The Knights scored their three runs in the fifth on three singles and a walk and had a fourth run thrown out at the plate.
The Knights’ second baseman Josh Shankel laid down a superb bunt to score Devon Dunfield, who had walked to lead off the top of the fifth. Swindall's base hit loaded the bases after Shankel's bunt and Jason Hunter singled. Derek Hart then singled to score Shankel and Hunter. Swindall was thrown out at the plate.
The Shamrocks had runners at first and second with no one out in the bottom of the sixth and the bases loaded with two out in their half of the seventh inning but could not manage to get a run off of Hanes.
Kennetcook wins one of four games
In other league play, the Kennetcook Braves split a doubleheader with the first place Yarmouth Gateways July 26 in Noel Road.
In the first game, Kennetcook emerged victorious, defeating Yarmouth 4-3.
This marked the Braves’ fourth win of the season.
The Braves scored once in the second inning and three more times in the fourth inning, collecting five hits off the Yarmouth pitching staff including a two-run double off the bat of Tyler Singer.
Elliot Dickson Green pitched the win in relief going four innings after Kyle Harvey started and pitched the opening three.
Yarmouth made a comeback in the second game, defeating Kennetcook 7-1.
Justin White collected two of the Braves’ three hits in the second game loss.
Dickson-Green went four innings in relief in the second game as well but starter Tyler Singer took the loss as the Gateways scored six runs off of Singer. They connected for a pair of runs in the first, second and third innings, and garnered nine hits off of the Braves’ two pitchers.
On July 25, the Braves met with a bout of bad luck and lost both games in their doubleheader with the Shelburne Schooners.
In the opener on the South Shore, the Schooners took the games 12-2. Shelburne scored eight runs in the fourth inning while the Braves managed only two hits in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
In the second game, Shelburne won 5-0.

As only the top four teams will make the NSIBL playoffs, the Hantsport Shamrocks are going to try and get back into the playoff schedule.
They have four games this week. On July 29, they are slated to to travel to Stellarton for a make-up game with the Pictou County Royals. They have a pair of games in Shelburne on Aug. 2.
Kennetcook is scheduled to host the Pictou County Albions Aug. 2 in Noel Road for a pair of games.
