Kelly Gruber during a stop in PEI last week.

Kelly Gruber will bring his well-known baseball camp to Kentville July 19 and 20. The former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman made his first visit to the Kings County two years ago.

The camp, open to kids aged 10 to 17, will be held at Memorial Park. Joining Gruber this year will be former teammate Mark Eichhorn as well as long-time Blue Jays outfielder Lloyd Moseby.

Gruber and Eichhorn were both members of the 1992 Toronto team that became the first World Series champion from outside the United States. Eichhorn went on to win another World Series title with the Blue Jays in 1993.

Moseby is a former all-star, Silver Slugger and Gold Glove winner who played for the Detroit Tigers as well as the Blue Jays.

Now in its sixth year, the Kelly Gruber Baseball Camps are designed to share the love of baseball and allow coaches who have performed at the top of their game to share their passion and experience with players and coaches at the camps.

Normally held fairly early in the baseball season, the camps allow young players to learn from the pros and apply their new knowledge for the remainder of the season.

Camp fees are $125 and include a camp T-shirt and training program for each participant.

The camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, and spectators are welcome to drop by and take a look.
