New Brunswick baseball player, coach and instructor Don Cormier and his brother, former major leaguer Rheal Cormier, will be in Berwick Aug. 4 to conduct a four-hour clinic for local minor baseball players.
Berwick Minor Baseball president and bantam A coach Phil Vogler says he had a chance meeting (arranged by Mike Landry) with the Cormier brothers following a recent tournament in New Brunswick.
Don Cormier has been sharing his baseball experience and expertise with young players for several years. With the assistance of Rheal, a 16-year major leaguer with a number of teams, including Montreal, Boston and Philadelphia and 2008 Canadian Olympian, he is attempting to ‘build baseball’ in Atlantic Canada by expanding the scope of his clinics.
The Cormiers offered to come to Berwick to help generate publicity and exposure for their program.
The clinic will run from 2-6 p.m. on the ‘A’ softball field adjacent to the Berwick Arena, and is open to the Berwick bantam A and peewee house teams. Spectators, including other young players, are more than welcome.
