A 26-year-old North Kentville man was arrested on June 6 for causing suffering to a puppy.

Police received a call from a neighbour at 10:16 p.m. about someone beating a dog with a board.

The animal was injured.

The male will appear in court on Sept. 2 on a charge under the Criminal Code. He had been reported earlier this spring as a result of another incident where the puppy was kicked.

this is such a vague article- what happened to the kicked puppy? Is it the same dog as the one hit with the board? Why was he allowed to have animals after the first charge? Where is the dog now? What is the name of the suspect? This reporter missed the opportunity to report this crime!

If society does not do something we are all lost, these people turn into killers.

I've learned a long time ago that Kings county animal control is stretched thin and just about useless. When I see an animal in distress I wait until the owner is gone and rescue (steal/save) it. Sometimes the vigilante approach is the only way to do the right thing: Save a life.

That is wrong on so many levels ... You are not the authorities just because you think you are !!

This man had been reported earlier in the spring for kicking this puppy, and was still able to keep this poor puppy. So we know this poor puppy has been mistreated from day 1 with this piece of shit. Why was he allowed to keep the puppy if he had kicked it in the past, so it would result in the puppy being beaten by a board. Bullshit!!! Action has to start being taken from day 1 when there is a complaint of an animal getting mistreated. And the person should not be able to ever have an animal again, and get 1 helluva fine and jail time. You can't even spit on a person without being charged with assault, animals should be given the same respect as humans do.

If the dog had attacked him the dog would be put down. Isn't it time we started to do that to people as well? Our prisons are over crowded, they get three meals a day, exercise, education and a roof over their heads. Too many violent people allowed to walk free.

Next step: BEAT THE MAN WITH THE SAME BOARD, UNTIL HE STARTS CRYING...LET"S SEE HOW LONG HE CAN STAND IT. MAKE THE PUNISHMENT FIT THE CRIME.

I hope the puppy is okay, or will be rescued by a caring family that can raise it to be the loving companion it is meant to be. I really, really hope it doesn't suffer more for the actions of an irresponsible owner. It makes me sick to think that this poor pup will just receive the short shelter life so many other dogs are condemned to.

So this man was allowed to either keep the puppy in question which he kicked or he was allowed to get another puppy to abuse? Why are there not more strict laws regarding animal cruelty?! Poor dog I hope this guy gets what he deserves and no other animal suffers at the hands of this monster

Perhaps that 26 year old North Kentville man should receive the same as her gave the poor puppy.

This man should be fined no less than $3000 and put behind bars for a period of time. If a stiff fine is not handed out than people like this are going to repeat. Animals look to us for protection and love and give us back unconditionally. What is wrong with people. I am sickened when I read this stuff.

When will the first offense be taken seriously? It should never have come to this! Hope this ends up with more than a slap on the wrist. Disgusting behaviour!!
