Clementsvale man faces charges

A 61-year-old Clementsvale man faces several charges after police seized 31.7 pounds of marijuana, cash, scales, and packaging materials from his home.

The Annapolis County and Kings County Street Crime Enforcement Units of the RCMP, along with Annapolis RCMP members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at the residence on December 20.

The man was arrested but his name is not being released until charges are formally laid.

“This guy had a medical marijuana license previously, but it had expired in October,” said Cpl. Laurie Smith of the street crime unit. “We seized the letter from Health Canada to him, telling him to take his grow op down. The letter was dated in October. He didn’t listen and this is where we are today.”

Staff Sergeant John DeWinter, district commander for Annapolis County, said getting this amount of illegal drugs off the streets contributes to the RCMP’s goal of safe communities.

“Our crime reduction initiatives here in Annapolis County are having a positive impact on the community,” he said.
