Mary “Louise” Power, 55 years old, passed away peacefully at home in Cambridge, Ontario on Monday, August 27, 2018 after a year long battle with ovarian cancer. Louise was born on May 4, 1963 to Wensley and Margaret (Taylor) Power in North Sydney and grew up in Florence among many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1981 and continued her education at Acadia University where she met her future husband Mohamed “Mo”. She moved to Ontario shortly after graduating from Acadia, with her BBA, to pursue her career in the field of Quality Assurance, most recently as a Quality Systems Auditor in the Aerospace Industry. Louise loved many things in life and found a cause dear to both her and Mo, in helping Syrian Immigrant Families settle and integrate into their new Country. She is well known and loved in the Syrian Community for her generosity, kindness, caring and acceptance. Louise is survived by Mo Elgadi, her husband, best friend & soulmate of 35 years; her mother, Margaret (Taylor) Power; her three older brothers, Wensley (Michelle), Daniel (Linda), Paul (Karen) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. She was predeceased by her father, Wensley Power. Interment has taken place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Florence Legion from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for family, friends & others whose lives Louise touched.
