Johanne Miriam HEAD

Johanne Miriam Head
Age 78, of Middleton, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at home. Born in Montreal, Que., she was the only child of the late Charles Henry and Jeanne Louise (Greek) Hoppe. Johanne followed her mother into the nursing profession, obtaining degrees from McGill University and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal in the early 1960's. Subsequently, she moved to Pittsburgh to work for several years before returning to Canada to become the program head for the Practical Nursing program at the Annapolis Regional Vocational School in 1973. She continued to teach following the transition to the Nova Scotia Community College in 1996 before retiring at the end of 2009. Forever the nurse, teacher, pony club mom, she was always there to encourage and support her students long after they graduated. For her children, she was there to push us when it was needed and support us always. Johanne was often heard telling her friends of our adventures. Johanne was predeceased by her husband, Hamish Head. She is survived by her son, Ramiro Charles (Chelsea) Perez, Maryland, USA; daughter, Lindsay Head (Darryl Ritter), Halifax, and her beloved granddaughter, Lilith, whom she loved so much. In keeping with Johanne's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 28th in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton, officiated by Rev. Paul Jennings and Father Ken Vaughan. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local police association or the War Amps of Canada. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the dignified and wonderful care of Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 whom we sincerely thank for all their help. In addition, we want to thank Father Ken Vaughan, who kindly accepted our request to participate in the service as well as all of Johanne's friends, who have helped us through this difficult time. And finally, we want to thank the kind assistance and help of the Middleton RCMP detachment and the local EHS community. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
