Antigonish man charged after fleeing on motorcycle

TRACADIE, NS - A 48-year-old Antigonish County man faces several charges after fleeing from the RCMP on a motorcycle.

At 3:40 p.m. on April 12, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services saw a motorcycle speeding on Highway 4 in Tracadie. When police attempted to stop the vehicle the driver increased his speed to 150 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone.

Police report that when he was eventually stopped they discovered he didn’t have a valid driver's license, the motorcycle wasn’t registered and it didn’t have liability insurance. As a result, the driver was charged with flight from police, operating a motor vehicle while license is revoked, operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on June 21.
