Police chase of dangerous driver ends with crash into RCMP car in Stewiacke

Nova Scotia RCMP engaged in a chase on Saturday morning that ended with a dangerous driving slamming head-on into a police car.

Colchester RCMP received a call at 4:30 a.m. June 21 of an erratic driver who proceeded to drive across the lawn of the RCMP Bible Hill detachment.

Officers pursued the vehicle through the town of Truro, where Truro Police Service provided assistance. The driver proceeded to Highway 102 where he continued to drive dangerously posing risk to other motorists and responding officers.

The chase ended in Stewiacke, where the driver hit an RCMP vehicle head-on.

The 18-year-old driver from Pictou was arrested and both the driver and police officer involved were transported to the Colchester-East Hants Hospital. The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has been released. The driver remains in police custody while receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries. No members of the public were injured during this incident.
