Halifax pedestrian hospitalized, ticketed after collision

Halifax police say a man has been hospitalized and ticketed after he was hit in a crosswalk Thursday morning.

A release from Halifax Regional Police states the accident happened at 8:24 a.m. at 1894 Barrington Street, the bus stop outside Scotia Square.

A 22-year-old man was hit in the marked crosswalk by a car heading north on Barrington.

The release states that an investigation revealed the pedestrian ran across the crosswalk but didn’t leave any time for the driver to stop.

The man has been issued a summary offence ticket for moving into the path of a vehicle when impractical for the vehicle to stop.

The ticket carries a fine of $406.45.

The man’s injuries are described as non-life threatening. The woman driving the car wasn’t hurt.
