HANTS COUNTY, N.S. — Two people could be facing charges following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 1 in Three Mile Plains on the weekend that resulted in one child being sent to the hospital.
The RCMP has confirmed that a 2002 Toyota Corolla left the road June 16 and struck a tree shortly before 9:30 p.m.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Newport Station, was transported to the QEII Hospital in Halifax with non-life threatening injuries, while a three-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported by EHS to the IWK in Halifax. The child received minor injuries.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, a media relations officer with the Halifax District RCMP, said in an email that charges are pending against the driver.
Hutchinson noted that while first responders were dealing with the initial collision, a 23-year-old woman arrived on scene and was also arrested by RCMP. She could also be facing charges.
Hutchinson said the Department of Community Services has also been contacted.
“Both investigations are continuing, which could result in impaired driving related offences along with other Criminal Code offences,” Hutchinson said.
