Former Yarmouth RCMP officer appointed to Halifax media relations

Cpl. Church worked at the Yarmouth Town detachment from 2004 to 2007. He has been appointed Halifax District RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Nova Scotians will soon hear a new voice and see a new face on television as Cpl. Greg Church takes on his new duties as Halifax District RCMP Media Relations Officer (MRO) on Monday.

Cpl. Church worked at the Yarmouth Town detachment from 2004 to 2007.

 "I've had many amazing opportunities during my years of service with the RCMP and when I received the offer to move into media relations for Halifax RCMP, I was elated," said Cpl. Church.

"I look forward to representing RCMP employees in Halifax and keeping citizens well informed about the work we are doing every day."

Cpl. Church was born and raised in Windsor, Nova Scotia and after graduating high school, he moved to British Columbia to attend Military College. After a six-year career with the Canadian Forces, Cpl. Church joined the RCMP in 1989.

His first posting was Harbour Grace, Newfoundland.  In 1995, Cpl. Church, his wife Lisa, and daughters Melissa and Courtney were transferred to Nain, Labrador where they spent two years experiencing Northern isolated living. Cpl. Church was then transferred to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia where he worked at all three Lunenburg County offices.

In 2007, he and his family returned to Halifax where he worked as the Nova Scotia RCMP Community Policing Analyst.
