Three students from the NSCC Kingstec campus brought home gold medals recently after competing at the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning Case Challenge in Toronto.
Sara Coffin, Carlie-Ann Connors and Ryan Robicheau are all in the final year of a two-year business administration program with concentration in financial services. The trio competed as the only team from Atlantic Canada at the March 22 event, held at Humber College Lakeshore Campus in Toronto. Other teams in the competition were from Centennial, George Brown, Humber, Seneca, Conestoga and Fanshawe colleges.
Each team was given a comprehensive eight-page financial planning case and allotted two hours to read, analyze and prepare a financial plan, as well as a 20-minute presentation for a panel of industry professionals.
Robert Holland, faculty member in the Business Administration program at NSCC Kingstec, believes the level and depth of the Kingstec team’s presentation was a testament to the quality of their skills.
”It was a wonderful experience for the students and it was a great opportunity to see what other schools are doing in the field of Financial Services education as well as network with professionals in the industry,” he said. “The students were certainly great ambassadors for NSCC.”
