Guilty to assault

Everton Orlando Brown, 38, of no fixed address, was given a conditional discharge and nine months probation on Jan. 28 for failing to comply with court conditions and assault.

Brown pleaded guilty to failing to stay away from an Upper Canard woman and for assaulting the same woman. 

The offences occurred Nov. 29, 2013, in Upper Canard.


Case dropped

The case against a Wilmot woman charged with attempting to defraud Kings West MLA Leo Glavine of an amount less than $5,000 has been dismissed.

Wendy Gail Tooker, 40, pleaded not guilty to the charge Sept. 23, 2013, and a trial was set for Jan. 28. When it came time for the trial in court last week, the Crown’s witness did not appear and the matter was dismissed.

The charge stemmed from an incident alleged to have occurred May 13, 2013, in Greenwood.



Fined for breaches

Peter Douglas Swinamer, 48, of Hants Border, was in Kentville provincial court Jan. 29 for sentencing on a March 21, 2013 charge of breach of probation.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $230 and handed 12 months probation by the court.

During a Jan. 31 appearance in Kentville provincial court, Catlin Stewart Cooke, 23, of no fixed address, was sentenced to six months in custody for breaching a probation order Jan. 21 in Cambridge.

Crystal Lee Marwick, 37, of Greenwood, pleaded guilty to a breach of probation charge, laid Nov. 30, 2013 in Greenwood while in Kentville provincial court Jan. 30. The court levied a fine of $230.
