Noah Thomas scored two goals and one assist and Chris Demaine had a goal and two assists Saturday to lead Digby Mariners to a comeback win against the Bridgetown Trojans.

Digby trailed for most of the exhibition game at the Digby Area Arena.

Bridgetown came out strong in the first period, with goals from Kellen Saunders and then Brent Saunders.

Thomas set up Digby’s first big chance when he managed to get off a slick pass to Demaine in front, who was not expecting the pass.

A few minutes later, Demaine redeemed himself, setting up Carman Logan who put Digby on the scoreboard. The first period ended 2-1 for Bridgetown.

Bridgetown increased its lead early in the second period with another goal from Kellen Saunders and then a fourth from assistant captain Kyle Taylor.

Tristan Bowlby assisted on every Bridgetown goal, and Taylor also had two assists.

It looked bleak for Digby, trailing 4-1, but Dawson Acker answered for Digby 20 seconds later off an assist from Brad O’Neil.

Thomas brightened things up some more later in the second with his first goal, assisted by captain Myles Creighton.

The third period was an even struggle until 11 minutes in. Demaine fed Thomas, who turned and put a slow backhander over the Bridgetown goalie to tie the game.

Three minutes later, Thomas returned the favour and set up Demaine for the game winner with six minutes left.

DRHS travels to North Kings Educational Centre today, Jan. 5 to make up a league game.
