People will be able to see fireworks during Founders' Days in Shelburne thanks to a major donation.

Founders in Shelburne will be celebrating with a boom after a generous donation by a business owner originally from the area.
After some dubious weeks of whether the fireworks would be on the list of events, Danny Guy a former Shelburne native on behalf of his business, Harrington Global made a donation of $5,000 to ensure the event would be put on.
In fact, they will be better than ever.
“We are now able to spend $20,000 on fireworks,” said Jerry Locke with the Town of Shelburne.
Locke said finances were firmed up at Tuesday night’s meeting and they are only $2000 short of funds with money still coming in.
Sobey’s has plans to hold a cash roundup where customers can donate at the till during checkout to help raise any additional funds needed.
The festival had less than two weeks to come up with $9,000 but against odds and with the support of local businesses they have almost reached their goal.
Locke said they are very close to finalizing the weekend’s programing and have slotted events again for Thursday night and Sunday.
Although they have passed a big hurdle of funding for fireworks they have yet to work out the logistics of the Parade of Lights.
“Right now we have no one to organize it,” said Locke. “If we don’t get someone it won’t happen.”
The event takes a fair bit of organizing of the different vessels, said Locke.
They are also looking for organizers and judges for Shelburne Idol.
This is the first year since 2000 the town has organized the event.
