Christian Herridge has a hobby.  Like many he has fallen for capturing photographs but has used the art to heal himself as well.

Herridge has both obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia.  He says his photography helps him cope.

“The reason I took this hobby on was to keep my mind active,” he said.

Once a week he heads on the road with his respite worker to take photos of fire trucks.

Last week, saw the Mahone Bay resident to Shelburne where he took photos of each of the fire trucks with a particular interest in the antique model.

He has even had CBC pick up a few of his photos to use in broadcasts over the years.

It is part of a collection he works on that includes fire departments, scenic photos and city lights.

“I’ve been doing it for nine years or more,” he said.

He also likes to collect memorabilia from the departments he has visited and has even been invited to sit in on firefighter practices all over the province.
