The Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Yarmouth and the Western Regional Enterprise Network (WREN) are co-hosting the event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, located 341 Main St., Yarmouth.

“We all share a common vision for Yarmouth and region to be a great place where ideas become growing business ventures, thriving entrepreneurs and economic success stories,” says Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood. “Working together, we’re going to make it happen.“

“Economic development starts with dialogue and engagement,” adds Chris Atwood, president of the Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce. “It is important that business owners, economic development agencies and government have open lines of communication. The better we all understand each other the more progressive we can be in achieving our development goals.

“The event at the art gallery,” says Atwood, “provides us with an opportunity to celebrate an important piece of our community’s infrastructure and a venue to talk about other topics.”

The WREN, serving the interests of Yarmouth and Digby counties, was launched a year ago – the first of five established by the provincial government to provide regional economic leadership and help develop regional economic strategies, while supporting small, local businesses.

“We focus our efforts where we can best move the region forward towards business success and economic prosperity,” says Angélique LeBlanc, chief executive officer for WREN.

Not only is the reception aimed at encouraging networking among local businesses and agencies, it is also supporting local and provincial business in its choice of refreshments.

Guests will be able to sample craft beers supplied by Rudders and Nova Scotia wines, enjoy specialty coffees and teas provided by Sip Café, and dip into cheese and veggies produced locally.

“It’s really just a chance to celebrate the art gallery and share stories about what has been achieved recently from the point of view of the chamber, town and WREN,” says chamber executive director Matthew Trask.  “We don’t seem to celebrate success enough.”
