Get ready for an afternoon of cold rosy cheeks and a warmed Christmas spirit as the annual Shelburne Christmas parade marches through the town this Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Chairperson Barb Falk, is hoping to have as many floats and walkers to fill the festive event and already two bands have confirmed including the Bridgewater Firefighters Band and the Mersey Band from Liverpool.

“It looks very encouraging,” said Falk. “Hopefully we will get lots of floats and participants.”

A new rule was implemented for safety for this year’s parade where float participants are asked not to throw candy from the floats.

Instead, walkers can be used to hand the candy to children watching the parade.

As well as the requisite warmed hot chocolate and coffees, people can bring their canned goods/non perishable food items to the parade.

Our House Youth Wellness Centre staff and volunteers will be hosting a food drive during the 21st Shelburne County Annual Christmas Parade.

The food items or donations will be collected by the many Elf volunteers, or anyone wishing to donate items or money in advance can visit or call the Our House center located on 54 King Street in Shelburne.

The guest of honour, the big man himself, Santa Claus will be parading through the streets with a twinkle in his eye for the Shelburne County children.

So bring out the whole family for this traditional local event to open up the Christmas season fast approaching.
