Yarmouth Mariners fall to Pictou Crushers 3-2

The Pictou County Weeks Crushers (9-8-0-0) edged the Yarmouth Mariners (7-7-1-1) 3-2 Friday night in Yarmouth.

Cody Roland led the Crushers with 1 goal and 2 assists while Dan Joyce added 2 assists.

Roland opened the scoring early when he found the back of the net at 1:01 to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead after the first period. Carl Hayes (powerplay) scored at 2:10 to tie the game at 1-1. Hayes (second goal of game) scored at 12:28 to give the Mariners the lead at 2-1. Geoffrey Hum (powerplay) scored at 18:51 to knot the score at 2-2 after the second period. Tyler Noseworthy (game winner) rounded out the scoring at 10:10.

Pictou County went 1 for 3 on the powerplay while Yarmouth went 1 for 8.

Randy Chisholm stopped 43 of 45 shots for the win while Justin Collier stopped 42 of 45 shots in the loss.
