The physician recruitment committee of Shelburne has approached the Municipality of Barrington requesting a contribution towards a financial incentive for a physician interested in practicing in the area.
The doctor would be covering shifts in the Emergency Department as well as caring for inpatients with no family doctor.
“His visit went well and it is felt that he would be a great fit in our community by the physicians as well as the physician recruitment committee,” wrote Robert Legere, chair of the Physician Recruitment Committee in a letter to the municipality.
Legere added that the Municipality of Shelburne has confirmed a financial incentive.
During Barrington’s committee of the whole meeting on Oct. 19, members discussed the importance of knowing how much the Municipality of Shelburne would be contributing before it added its contribution.
A motion was made to recommend to council that the municipality enquire what the incentive target is and what other units are contributing to the incentive program.
