Cops catch up with escaped youth
BY SARA KEDDY

Kings County Register

A 17-year-old who escaped the Waterville youth facility Dec. 23 was caught with another stolen car.

Military police stopped a car January 4 at 1 a.m. on Cow Bay Road in Eastern Passage and notified RCMP they had a car in custody reported as stolen.

RCMP arrested the youth driver on the scene, identified as the same individual who had stolen a construction worker’s car from the Waterville jail Dec. 23. The youth had “earned the privilege” of working without direct supervision, but stole the car - which had its keys in the ignition - while he was working with the construction crew.

He was to appear in Provincial Youth Court January 5 on charges of possession of break and enter instruments, being unlawfully at large, possession of stolen property and two counts of theft over $5,000. He was previously in custody for theft-related offences.
