Break-ins and booze dominate week before Christmas

RCMP responded to a total of 49 calls in the Annapolis County region from December 15 to 19. Among these were five false alarm, five false 911s, two motor vehicle accidents, and five domestic incidents.
A number of this week’s calls were alcohol-related, so RCMP remind you to arrange a sober drive home before partaking of the holiday cheer and remember to drive in accordance with road conditions.

Of the 49 calls, the following are highlights of the week:
- Dec. 15 at 11:00 a.m. Bear River. Police received a report of fraudulent use of a telephone, with respects to an individual who applied for a phone under false pretences.
- Dec. 15 at 11:53 a.m. Nictaux. A report of threats uttered remains under investigation.
- Dec. 15 at 6:59 & 7:23 p.m. Highway #1, Granville Ferry. Two calls both reported a drunken individual on the side of the road. One reported almost colliding with the person. Patrols located the individual, who was ticketed for public drunkenness, held in cells until sober, then released.
- Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m. Middleton. A report of an excessively drunk individual walking up Commercial St. lead to an arrest for public drunkenness. The person was held in cells until sober, then released.
- Dec. 16 at 8:11 a.m. Springfield. Officers responded to a report of break and enter, and theft under $5000 dollars. A quantity of diesel fuel was stolen. The matter remains under investigation.
- Dec. 16 at 9:10 a.m. Lawrencetown. A break and enter into a business remains under investigation.
- Dec. 16 at 10:26 a.m. Lawrencetown. Another break and enter into a building remains under investigation.
- Dec. 16 at 12:46 p.m. Port Wade. Police investigated a report of fraud related to bounced check payments.
- Dec. 16 at 1:34 p.m. Lawrencetown. Another break and enter into a business remains under investigation.
- Dec. 16 at 2:00 p.m. Wilmot. A two-vehicle collision on private property was deemed to have occurred under circumstances that make it a civil matter, not criminal. No injuries were reported.
- Dec. 17 at 6:05 a.m. Wilmot. A reported break and enter into a residence remains under investigation. Some items were reported missing from the home.
- Dec. 17 at 11:03 a.m. Wilmot. A single vehicle lost control and flipped due to slippery road conditions. The driver turned down EHS assistance.
- Dec. 17 at 12:58 p.m. Centrelea. No charges were laid following a report of an assault.
- Dec. 17 at 3:14 p.m. Hillsburn. Officers responded to a report of an attempted break and enter.
- Dec. 17 at 3:47 p.m. Lawrencetown. Knowing that a rash of break and enters had occurred in town, an alert citizen reported noticing suspicious footprints at a local business.
- Dec. 18 at 7:00 a.m. Bridgetown. A break and enter into a business remains under investigation.
- Dec. 18 at 9:43 a.m. Karsdale. A concerned citizen contacted police to report an abandoned vehicle.
- Dec. 18 at 2:19 p.m. Cornwallis. A resident called to report an unknown person had passed through his/her property. Nothing was reported missing or damaged.
- Dec. 18 at 2:38 p.m. Bridgetown. Patrols were unable to locate a vehicle reported to have been speeding through town.
- Dec. 18 at 4:38 p.m. Middleton. Officers investigated a hit and run, involving a truck ramming into a guard rail owned by a private business. The matter remains under investigation.
- Dec. 18 at 5:12 p.m. Middleton. An alert citizen called to report noticing lights on at a school that ordinarily would not be left on.
- Dec. 18 at 10:40 p.m. Bridgetown. A break and enter into a business remains under investigation.
