Boston Tree should have traveled via ferry—NDP
NDP transportation critic Vicki Conrad has asked Premier Rodney MacDonald why the Conservative government didn’t use the ferry from Digby to Saint John to transport the provincial tree bound for Boston.
This year’s tree was cut Monday morning in Clementsvale, just a 30-minute drive from the Digby ferry terminal.

“The survival of the Digby ferry is an issue important to the economy of southwest Nova, especially the fishery,” said Conrad, who is the MLA for Queens.

She noted today in the Legislature that the federal government and the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have provided temporary funding, but there is still no long-term solution.

“Increased promotion and increased use could go a long way to help stabilize this asset.”
