Meteghan woman dies after car flips while trying to avoid deer
A 29-year-old Meteghan woman died Thursday night after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving while trying to avoid a deer.
Nicole Mary Melanson of Saint Martin was pronounced dead at the scene and was the sole occupant the vehicle she was traveling in.
The RCMP said speed was not a factor. The victim’s vehicle flipped over after trying to avoid the deer on the Second Division Road in Saint Martin. The Meteghan RCMP, the Meteghan fire department and EHS were notified of the collision at 9:59 p.m. on Oct. 30. The Western Traffic Services also investigated.
Constable Rolland Lavoie says there was a witness to the incident. A friend of the victim was traveling in a vehicle behind the one driven by Melanson.
