Hantsport hosted a Gallery of Gourds at Churchill House on the evening of Oct. 25.
The town purchased some pumpkins for people to paint, carve and decorate, which were then judged and bid upon for keeps during the Gallery of Gourds. The community voted on the best carving and a trophy was also awarded to the winner of the smallest pumpkin contest.
Cathy Dunbar’s pumpkin was selected as the favourite creative carving and Jacob Shaw- O’Leary won the smallest pumpkin contest with a gourd weighing in at 45 grams.
Co-chair Susan Carey of the Harvest Festival Committee said roughly $150 was raised for Unicef from this event and it was a good opportunity for the community to come together.
“Churchill House was a great spot to create a really spooky setting, too,” Carey said. “This was a lot of fun to organize,” she added, “and it was supporting a good cause.”
