Jail guard thwarts escape attempt
A 26-year-old Shelburne man is being held in custody until Nov. 19 after allegedly trying to break into a Sandy Point home and assaulting a jail guard.
Shelburne RCMP arrested Troy Lyndon Faye last Tuesday night (Oct. 21) after he allegedly attempted to break into a residence in Sandy Point where an 82-year-old female resides. Faye, who was reported to be intoxicated at the time, allegedly broke out the windows in two doors of the residence, as well as causing other damage.
The following morning Faye allegedly assaulted a jail guard at the Shelburne lockup in an attempted jailbreak, but was brought under control for his court appearance.
Faye, who is already on house arrest because of previous offences, was remanded into custody until Nov. 19 when he will answer to charges from last week’s incidents, as well as to charges from past occurrences.
