The Ladies’ Division of the Ken-Wo Country Club held its annual year-end tournament and closing banquet Thursday, Oct. 2 at the club.

On a wet and dreary day, four brave groups of ladies took part in a nine-hole ‘shamble’, after which all the women gathered in the clubroom for a delicious Chinese buffet provided by the club followed by the presentation of the 2008 year-end awards.

Entertainment for the event was provided by Mary Ann Culliton, Cheryl Smith, Renda Vandertoorn and Judy Thorburn who, in the finest ‘Mamma Mia’ tradition, dressed up as the members of the group Abba and delivered a rousing rendition of ‘Dancing Queen’.

According to Ladies’ Division publicity director Yvonne Wilson, a good time was had by all, which helped to overcome the poor weather.

Winners of the 'shamble' competition were Gwen Phillips, Florence Douglas, Catharina Ansems and Geri MacKay.
