South Shore Wild split first two games
The South Shore Wild split the first two games of the Nova Scotia Junior C League season with The Chester Clippers. The Wild defeated the Clippers 6-2 in Chester Oct. 5 but lost 10-7 at home Oct. 7 in what was an entertaining, roller-coaster game. Clipper goalie Anthony Skerry watches a puck go by that was released by the Wild’s Nick Handspiker, who can barely be seen as he splits the defense. Wild player, Ryan Handspiker is in the foreground. South Shore Wild split first two games
South Shore Wild defeated the Chester Clippers 6-2 in Chester Oct. 4.
The game was close, going back and forth until the third period, when the Wild got ahead by three. Justin MacDonell had a four-point night with three goals and an assist. Singles went to Justin Hanley, Brett Bolivar and Aaron Sawyer. Assisting were Chris Innis, Aaron Sawyer, Ryan Handspiker and Dylan Killam. Murray Daye made key saves in goal to keep Chester at bay and preserve the win.

On Oct 7, in Liverpool, Chester showed up for revenge. The game was close in the first period and the Wild took a two-goal lead in the second and looked to repeat for another win. However, too many give-aways with poor passing proved to be South Shore's downfall. At the end of two Chester was ahead 6-3. A Chester goal at the buzzer and two bad deflections all count.

What was also evident was the inability for Wild players to separate the Chester players from the puck. Too many times Chester players were left alone in front of Frank Krafve. The goalie from Clarks Harbour played well and controlled his rebounds.

Scoring for the Wild was Captain Nick Handspiker and Assistant Captain Justin Hanley with two goals. Newcomer Ryan Ewing, Daniel Lane, and Aaron Sawyer each had one goal.

The Wild face Yarmouth Raiders on Oct. 11 at 8:15 pm, Barrington Ice Dogs on Oct. 14 at 8:45 p.m. and Claire Lions on Oct. 18 at 8:15 p.m.
