Aircraft composite manufacturer coming to Yarmouth
The long promised manufacturing plant for Yarmouth is about to come to fruition.

Xperion of Germany will construct a factory at the Yarmouth airport to make composite parts for aircrafts as well as possibly space and defence companies.

The five-year outlook for the operation calls for 15 jobs to start with the potential to grow to 200. It is expected training would take place at Burridge Campus.

A news conference to announce the contract will take place Monday morning at the Yarmouth airport. Watch novanewsnow.com for up-to-the minute coverage of the event.

This would definitely be a much needed boost for the local economy! Does anyone know how/where to apply for any of these jobs? Also, the official announcement is scheduled for Monday morning at the airport, but does anyone know what time? ... and is it open to the public?

I am a formerly composites fabricator, trained at NSCC lunenburg campus(when they still offered the course). I was employed with composites atlantic in lunenburg before they released(laid off) more then 200 workers. I would love to work again in my field of study, who would I apply to?

Any information would be appreciated.

This is great news for the area and, while I am as cynical as any other I don't believe that this announcement is politically motivated. Two years ago there was no talk of an election yet there was talk of an announcement concenring our airport. Apparnetly the negotiations hit a snag and that announcement smouldered out. I am certainly pleased that the powers that be did not wait until all potential elections had passed before finalizing this deal,

Indeed we need jobs around here but is anyone else seeing how timely this news is? Elections, federal and local around the corner and all.Must be time for all the "leaders" to march to the podium and take credit for this. Seems to me there has been talk of this industry coming here for many months. I've read mentions of it in the Vanguard several times. The mayor mentioned it during the weekend interview on CJLS but didn't give any details. How come the good news wasn't revealed earlier? Why wait until a couple weeks before an election? Maybe some of the people who have pulled out of here with their young families and headed west might have stayed if they felt there was a chance there would be jobs around the corner. It's time people stopped playing politics around here. Everyone knows that when some companies come to places like Yarmouth they often do so because of a lot of tax dollars help. That's everyone's money. Not just the politicians money.
