The Bargain! Shop to open in Liverpool
The Bargain! Shop has confirmed it is opening a department store at the former SAAN site in Liverpool sometime in Nov. or Dec. at the latest.
Michael Roellinghoff, President and CEO of The Bargain! Shop Holdings Inc., says, “I can confirm we are planning to open the Liverpool location and the opening isn’t final but will most-likely be in Nov. or Dec.”
The Bargain! Shop purchased the assets of SAAN last month after the latter company went bankrupt.
Roellinghoff says, “We’re running like crazy sourcing merchandise and a lot of former SAAN employees are being offered positions. It’s very exciting for a Canadian owned company that focuses on smaller markets, especially to make this acquisition.”
He says most stores hire between 10 and 12 employees, including the manager. The former SAAN store employed 10.
He says Liverpool was chosen after an assessment of lease and market conditions “to try and identify a need for a store like The Bargain! Shop, which focuses on a broader range of products than SAAN store.”
He explains the items offered range from apparel and electronics to toys and giftware to consumables and health and beauty products.
“Our buying strategy is to have everyday low prices and to supplement the regular assortment with opportunity buys, which we source quite broadly. Often the prices of those are dramatically lower than the market price and include national brands and occasionally even designer brands at discount prices.”
The Bargain! Shop already has stores from nearly one end of the province to the other.
