MLA wants commitment from federal government
Digby-Annapolis MLA Harold Theriault says southwestern Nova Scotia is being neglected and he wants federal and provincial governments to commit to long-term stability for the ferry service to Saint John and completion of Hwy. 101 between Digby and Weymouth.
“It’s fine that they’ve made another band-aid solution to keep the ferry going for another couple years, but it does little for the people and businesses who rely on this service,” he says in a news release.

Theriault is also frustrated with the lack of commitment for Hwy. 101, which he says is among the most dangerous highways in the country.

“This is a real safety concern for a lot of people,” Theriault said. He recently wrote federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon encouraging action on the highway.

Theriault is challenging federal candidates in Southwest Nova to get a commitment from party leaders on long-term funding for infrastructure in the region.
