Mariners release roster, open season Friday

The Yarmouth Mariners start the season this Friday in Bridgewater and last night the team released its final roster.

Jordan Scott, the team's captain, anchors a 26-man roster that includes five area players. Assistant captains have yet to be announced.

The Mariners return to Yarmouth Saturday night for the home opener. The team will have a ceremony before the game to celebrate last year's success. Former Mariners in attendance will include Jamie Klie, Ryan Penney and Justin Saulnier.

Centre — Carl Hayes, Lynden Proctor, Jordan Scott, Tyler Williams, Ryan Nickerson.

Left wing — Michael Best, Marco Desveaux, Cody Lefrancois, Steve Pearson, Rejean Deveau, Neil Coombs.

Right wing — Julien Payne, Davey Shea, Matt Duff.

Defence — Patrick Sharkey, David Wilband, Andrew Walker, John Hubley, Drew Melnick, Renel Deveau, Graham Ferguson, Mitch MacLeod, Mike Decoste, Dakota Johnson.

Goalie — Justin Collier, Dallas Ungurian.
