Lights along the Shore Festival this weekend

Lighthouses are the star attraction this weekend during the annual Lights Along the Shore Festival.
From Peggy’s Cove to Annapolis Royal three days of festivities and activities are planned in celebration of the region’s fabled beacons.
Festival events are scheduled for a number of venues in Shelburne County. On Friday, birders will join up at the Baccaro Light at 4 pm. for a late afternoon excursion. For further information contact Lynne at 902-275-8631.
The Sandy Point Lighthouse is the centre of attention Saturday, with a flea market starting at 7 a.m. a fish chowder lunch and cake walk (11 a.m.) and a variety show and pie sale (7 p.m.)
In Barrington on Saturday, former lighthouse keepers Sid and Betty-June Smith will be on hand at the Seal Island Lighthouse Museum to share some of their stories and memories starting at 1 p.m.
More lightkeeepers’ memories will be shared on Sunday afternoon at the Crescent Beach Centre in Lockeport (1-4 p.m.)
The public is also invited to visit the Shelburne County Museum on Dock Street in Shelburne over the weekend to view the Fresnel lenses from the sandy Point and Cape Negro lighthouses.
Miniature lighthouses will also be available to purchase throughout the weekend at the Lighthouse B&B in Shelburne.
Numerous other activities are scheduled throughout Lunenburg, Queens, Yarmouth and Annapolis counties.
