He runs a hand through his hairs and jokes that he used to have a lot more before he assumed the role of executive director for Yarmouth’s first international air show in 17 years at the Yarmouth airport.
But Greg Moulaison says everything is under control for this weekend’s event.
“It was much more challenging than what I thought it would be, but even more fun than I thought it would be,” he said.
Last week he and his assistants were busy handling last minute logistical details including finalizing liquor license paperwork, directing the erection of fencing for the flow of traffic and the isolation of spectators from the operational area, in addition to measuring parameters for tents and concessions.
Ticket holders and those purchasing tickets will enter via the Haley Road and be directed to the parking area by Yarmouth County Ground Search & Rescue. There will be a designated, paved, area within 500 feet of the closest static aircraft for handicapped visitors.
People should bring their folding chairs advises Moulaison. There will be a number of concessions, including those serving hot dogs, pizza, chips, chocolate bars and drinks.
A 60 x 40 cordoned-off beer tent is planned. Paramedics and firefighters will be on site during the air show.
The section of Starrs Road between PJ Motor Sports and the Small Gaines Road will be closed on Sept. 13 and 14 between 1 and 4 p.m. in relation to the show.
Performances will include the world famous Snowbirds, Skyhawks (Canadian Forces parachuting team), a flash fire jet truck that goes 350 m.p.h. in seven seconds, American stunt pilot Pete McLeod, a Griffin helicopter, three Harvard heritage aircrafts and a CF-18 Hornet.
In the VIP tent, a plane being constructed by Pubnico resident Ron Belliveau will also be on display.
The show will have a practice day for performers on Sept. 12 at the Yarmouth airport.
The event is almost ready to take off.
“The support from the community has been outstanding and is going to result in a good airshow,” said Moulaison.
