After a month of renovations, Minas Realties has moved into their new digs on Wentworth Road. To celebrate the event, the recently expanded company held an open house Friday, Aug. 15. Representatives of the local business community and government came out to admire the new space, designed to boost business. “That’s the whole idea,” said manager Randy Hussey of the new facilities. It hasn’t hurt staff, either. The team of agents that has doubled in size since Minas absorbed Riverview Realty last month. “I think this is wonderful; what more could you ask for?” said Helen Romans, who has been with the company for the past seven years. “It’s going very well, everyone works great together. We’ve taken on a very professional look.”

Although it has been a smooth transition, change can be a challenge, says realtor Helen Lindley. She had worked out of the Gerrish Street office for 19 years. “I was scared at first that it would be a hard move for me.” All the same, Lindley says there is a tangible aura of excitement around the office since the relocation. “This is good. I miss my street, but there is a new life and a vibrancy that you can feel.

“I haven’t changed” she noted, “but the new look will give clients more confidence in my abilities. Image is everything.”

The mixture of seasoned agents and fresh new staff will only enhance service, she said. “There is a new set of agents that can serve the younger generation of home buyers,” she said.

David Bleakney, 23, just joined the team. His father, Austin Bleakney, founded the company and David plans to help move it ahead. “It’s the family business, so I’m looking to carry on the tradition.” He said working with such a dedicated team of agents is a real privilege. “It's good for me to learn from agents with that level of experience. There is so much they can teach me.”

West Hants Warden Richard Dauphinee says the merger was a win-win situation. “Anytime you can bring two companies together and make it work is great. It’s always nice when that can happen and you know people aren't losing jobs.”

In fact, Hussey said, “there are plans in the works to expand to the Valley area, but that is still a way down the road.” He said there would be further announcements regarding the company in the coming weeks.
