July 27 to August 2, 2008 KEITH, Allan “Al”, 64, Shelburne. Born in Montreal, Al died unexpectedly, but peacefully, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on Sunday, July 27, 2008, with his wife and partner of 31 years, Mary Lou, by his side throughout. Al was gregarious, always with a big smile and a hearty laugh. He loved people and people loved him. There were few things Al hadn’t tried during his full life: university athlete, high school teacher, national championship university football coach, restaurateur, house restorer, innkeeper, wholesale craft manufacturer, local politician and realtor were just some of them. History, gardening, crosswords, golf, reading and cooking were among his favourite things. Even though Al was never a father, he loved being a grandfather to Torsten, Annika and Linnea. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Lou; stepchildren, Kristin (Doug) Sinclair, Halifax, and Charlie Singer, Texas; grandson, Torsten, and granddaughters, Annika and Linnea Sinclair; sister, Heather Keith, Sherbrooke, Que.; nephews and nieces Tom, Colin, Kevin, Michaela, Shannon, and their families; brother, David, Ontario, and a slew of friends far and wide. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses in Neuro Surgery, the ICU, and the 8.1 Inpatient Unit. Donations may be made to Saint Mary’s University, the QEII Foundation, or a charity of your choice. A memorial service/celebration of Al’s life will be held September 6th at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity United Church (corner John and Hammond) Shelburne, N.S .
