Motor vehicle crashes keep firefighters busy

A number of motor vehicle crashes kept firefighters busy last week. Greenwich Fire Chief Randy Schofield said his department responded to a single-vehicle crash about one kilometre east of Exit 11 on Highway 101 Thursday evening, July 31. Schofield said one man was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to hospital. Wolfville Fire Chief Tim MacLeod said his department responded in mutual aid.

Wolfville firefighters responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Black River Road in Lumsden Pond Saturday, July 26 at 5:55 p.m. MacLeod said there were no serious injuries reported.

Kentville Fire Chief Shawn Ripley said his department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 12 in South Alton Monday afternoon, July 28. There were minor injuries involved.

In other local fire news, Wolfville firefighters responded to a building alarm sounding on Post Road, Wolfville at 5:23 p.m. July 28.

Kentville firefighters responded to two illegal garbage fires in town, one on River Street and one on Chester Avenue Tuesday, July 29.

Kentville responded to a fire alarm sounding at the vacant Scotia Farm Services building early Wednesday morning, July 30.

New Minas Fire Chief James Redmond said he had nothing of significance to report in terms of fire emergencies for the period of Friday afternoon, July 25 to Friday afternoon, Aug. 1.
