Cleanup removes 14 tonnes of roadside garbage in Barrington municipality
It hasn’t taken very long for more garbage to replace what was removed under a $10,000 Municipality of Barrington community clean up program this spring.
Warden Louise Halliday says it’s very discouraging to see tax dollars being spent and people still littering.
“We have to get the message out to people to please keep it in your car,” she said.
Approximately 14 tonnes (1, 304 bags) of waste were collected from the roadsides.
Damien Pothier was the top collector with his team of three stuffing 164 bags of garbage along 5.5 kilometres between Barrington and Clyde.
Approximately 100 kilometres were cleaned out of the 164 in the municipality.
