Stolen vehicle damages gate at Weymouth lab

A stolen truck Saturday morning plowed through a gate separating the Aleutian disease lab and Weymouth Consolidated School property.
The lab, which does research into the disease that affects mink, is housed in a separate section of the school building.
Tire tracks at the scene indicate a deliberate attempt to crash through the locked gate.
The truck proceeded up the gravel access road but a flat tire apparently caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and the vehicle landed in a ditch.
RCMP found the vehicle during their investigation of its theft from Terry Melanson of Weymouth
The school’s sports field was vandalized earlier this year by someone driving an SUV, but principal Larry Kelly says he has heard nothing from police about that investigation.
