SUNDAY UPDATE: Woods fire in second day
Firefighters worked until 9 p.m. Saturday to gain control of a brush fire in woods in the Bloomsfield area, and Digby fire chief Robbie Morgan expressed surprise at noon Sunday that a quiet night hadn’t knocked the fire down mor than it did.
A crew of firefighters returned to the fire, using water pumped through a main hose from the nearby former railway bed. The fire is in an area that had been logged, and is now largely debris and brush.
Morgan said efforts to fully extinguish the fire will likely last much of the week, with final mopping up handled by Natural Resources personnel.
