FOR THE DIGBY COURIER
Colin Grant, an East Coast Music Award nominee in 2007, was among 101 students to graduate Saturday from Université Sainte-Anne at Church Point.

Grant received the Senateur Edouard Theriault Prix D'Honneur award in recognition of overall honors, university involvement and excellence during his years of study at the university.

He spent the past five years at the university juggling music with studies. While there, Grant taught private fiddle lessons to children, university students and adults.

Grant was nominated for the East Coast Music Award in the roots-traditional solo category for his debut self-titled CD, Colin Grant.

Grant is a versatile and popular musician specializing in Cape Breton fiddle music and has several original compositions to his credit.

Grant graduated with combined degrees in arts and education. Grant will be teaching for the Cape Breton-Victoria School Board in September.
