A 24-year-old Greenwood man has been identified as the victim of a fiery crash between a van and motorcycle Monday in Wilmot.
Annapolis Valley RCMP Traffic Services is still investigating the collision between a motorcycle and a passenger van that happened on Highway 1 in Wilmot, Annapolis County at approximately 14:30 p.m. Monday.
An eastbound motorcycle collided with a van as it was making a left turn into a driveway.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Rich Walkinshaw. The lone occupant of the van was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The impact of the collision caused the motorcycle to burst into flames.
Walkinshaw said Wednesday the motorcycle driver has been identified as Mathieu Perron, 24 years old. Perron was stationed at 14 Wing Air Maintenance Squadron at CFB Greenwood.
He said the investigation into the cause of the crash continues with remaining witnesses left to be interviewed.
A traffic collision re-constructionist was at scene and Highway 1 was closed for a few hours.
Walkinshaw said a preliminary investigation suggests speed as a factor in the collision.
