The Yarmouth high school’s robotics team picked up two prizes at the recent Robots EAST 2008 Atlantic Championships.
The Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School team placed third overall in the Atlantic championship, behind Charles P. Allen High School of Bedford and Ecole Louis-J-Robichaud of Shediac, N.B., which placed first and second respectively.
The YCMHS team received first place in the multi-media category for its DVD that was filmed and edited by team captain Logan Fuller.
Robots EAST (Exploration and Awareness of Science and Technology) gives students from high schools in the Atlantic provinces the opportunity to design, build and test large robots, which are then pitted against robots from other schools on a challenging playing field.
This year’s competition was held in Frederiction. The theme was pirates.
Other members of the YCMHS team were Vica Nguyen, Sarah Cooke and J Horton. Their teacher advisor was Robyn McKenzie.
